Order of St. Augustine
Hello! Welcome to the website for the nascent community of Augustinian friars within the Continuing Anglican Church Under the episcopal oversight of both the APA (Anglican Province of America) and the ACC (Anglican Catholic Church), at the parish St. Thomas of Canterbury in Roanoke, VA, the order has received its first member under vows as of December 13, 2025.
The Catholic Vocation in All Ages
Throughout history, the Catholic Church has invited faithful souls to serve the Lord with undivided hearts, as echoed in St. Paul’s letter to the Corinthians. While this sacred vocation manifests in diverse ways, the most profound expression is found in the dedicated life of religious orders. Following the wisdom of St. Augustine, we believe that this journey must remain rooted in perpetual prayer, deep humility, and selfless charity, serving as the essential foundation for the way which seeks to imitate and follow Christ.
Here, a new community, the Community of Our Lady of Walsingham, is forming to enflame the church with men who are called to pray and live out the evangelical counsels of poverty, chastity, and obedience under the rule of St. Augustine.

The Life of Prayer, Simplicity, Humility, and Charity
Our blessed father, St. Augustine, notes in his rule the reason for which men and women called to the life of prayer are to live in community:
"Primum propter quod in unum estis congregati, ut unanimes habitetis in domo, et sit vobis anima una et cor unum in Deo."
"First, the reason for which you are gathered into one is that you may dwell of one mind in the house, and that there be for you one soul and one heart in God."
Removing ourselves from the world, into the confines of the cloister, is principally directed that all those joined together may dwell in the unity and love that our Lord Jesus Christ desired.
